If you could read a woman’s mind, wouldn’t life be so much easier? Scientists are currently working on developing radically new technology that would enable people to read each other’s minds. By capturing the brain waves and electricity within a person’s brain, a highly sophisticated computer could actually interpret the “thoughts” that people create inside their heads. This technology was detailed in the show Futurescape featuring James Woods. It’s not available in any form right now; but it’s postulated that in the very near future people everywhere can obtain one of these computers, and in turn read someone else’s mind. That includes guys who ponder on about the most intriguing thing in the universe, women.
Just consider it for a minute. No more wondering about what she is really thinking; if she actually likes you; what she wants to do; if she’s bored; if she thinks you’re an ass for saying what you just said, or even if she wants to have sex with you. All of these questions would be no more. You would already know the answer to every single thing that popped up in your head, because you could extract them first from her head. Ah yes, what a wonderful world this would be…
But not so fast; before you go on fantasizing about what a perfect and dreamlike existence you would live, consider the consequences that would inevitably result from such technology. After all, every new invention has unintended consequences, whether good or bad.
Sure reading a woman’s mind would be great. It would make things so much easier. You would know right away whether a woman liked you, or whether she thought you were a dunce. Her mind would probably say, within about a second or two after looking at you or meeting you, either “Who’s this handsome guy?” Or more likely “I can’t wait ‘til this guy leaves.” And it is the latter phrase that would ruin your chance with her. Not because she doesn’t like you, but because you think she doesn’t like you. See even though she will probably think something like this, and even say it “aloud” in her mind, deep down, she would still be willing to meet you. Only after hearing this, you would think otherwise, and probably walk out of her life for good.
As human beings we say all kinds of crazy things in our heads throughout the day. We think unbelievable, strange, ridiculous, impractical, and irrational ideas constantly. Not because we are crazy, or because we want to secretly act out these ideas, but because that’s how our minds work. We can’t just shut them off (unless we are sleeping or consciously meditating and trying to do this) throughout the day. They run amuck filling us with great intuitive ideas, and solutions to everyday problems, but also irrational notions about crazy, random, rubbish. If people actually believed every thought that popped up in someone’s head, everyone would be in jail.
We live in a day and age right now that is constantly changing. Technology is upgrading with every minute that passes. We don’t have flying cars yet, like in the Jetsons, but I’d say we are closer than you might think. We do however possess an ever evolving and upgrading thing called the computer that can do just about anything you could imagine. People born in the 50s or even 60s would never have imagined something called Google, would come along, and be able to search any term known to man in a matter of milliseconds. Any question, no matter simple or complex can be solved with the click of a mouse these days. It’s truly remarkable.
Before we advance too far into the future however, and come up with all sorts of innovative technologies like mind-reading devices, just take a look at the world as it is today. I personally believe that right now, in this particular moment in history, we have the perfect balance between technology and “real life”. We have things like the internet, social media, smart phones, iPads, television, and much more, that keep us connected to one another. It’s a great and easy way to stay in touch with all sorts of people. At the same time, I don’t think I want to get any more “connected” to people than I already am now through technology. There is nothing like being face to face with someone in person and actually talking to them and touching them and making real life connections with them. Sure you can’t read a woman’s mind today, by why would you want to? Why would you want to know every little thing a woman is thinking? It takes the mystery and fun out of life.
Enjoy the world as it is today, because tomorrow it may be much, much different.
