1. Don’t Try To Help Her With Her Weights
If you haven’t noticed, we’re developing into a society where weights aren’t just for the heavy, testosterone-filled lifters anymore.
Girls are starting to take over the racks, specifically the squat racks. That being said, a girl you’re eyeing knows what she’s doing and she’s usually not there to play games (sorry cardio bunnies).
This girl is focused and will take offense if you stride over to her and ask if she needs a hand lifting that weight or re-racking. She’s a strong, independent lady, so take pride in the fact that you could potentially go out with someone who can carry their own weight. Don’t insult them for this!
2. Do Ask If You Can Work In
When a guy asks to work into a workout, it’s the ultimate compliment. It means she’s doing something worthwhile and probably challenging; meaning one thing: you respect her right off the bat!
Ask any gym-goer what their main motive is and I guarantee you if getting the respect from others or themselves isn’t numbers one or two, they’re not a true “gym rat.”
3. Don’t Criticize What She’s Doing
This goes back to respect. If you don’t like what she’s doing, leave her alone. She’s got her workout, and maybe it looks different and she got it off of an Instagram account, but it’s what she wants to do, so leave it be. Especially, if you haven’t established a friendship yet, just forget what she’s doing or better yet, ask her about it. You may learn something new!
It may look weird, but before you judge it, ask about it and chances are, she would love to share her knowledge with you because you’re sharing interest in her. Bonus: it means you were watching her, which she loves.
4. Do Give A Friendly ‘You Should Try This’ Tip
Let’s say she’s working on an ab routine. Obviously it’s something she’s working on so this is your moment. When she’s finished her set, walk over there and just say “Hey I like your ab routine, you might like this move; I find it pretty challenging but super effective.” Boom, you’re in the door my friend! It’s that simple.
5. Don’t Ask For Her Number Straight Away
After talking for just a few minutes during a brief gym session, asking for her number may put you in the creeper zone. Instead, let her walk away after, because if it was good conversation you’re going to be on her mind when she leaves. More so, she’s going to be excited when she comes back to the gym at the thought of meeting you again!
If the conversation goes well the second time around, or even the third time, ask for her number and take it outside the gym. One thing is guaranteed, you’ll both look better outside of the sweaty clothes you’ve been wearing. And if you had the balls to talk to her during a workout, just wait till you have the confidence when you’re all dressed up.
